I love trivia so just figured I'd share some cool information about the movie, thanks to IMDB. While the movie got mixed reviews, it obviously did very well in the box office, and I'm a huge fan of the score by Christopher Young. Check this out:
*At an estimated gross of $151M at the box-office, this movie holds the record for biggest single (opening) weekend of all time. (Pirates out, spiders in)
*Composer Christopher Young appears as the conductor and the guy standing next to the piano player at Mary Jane Watson's rehearsal scene.
*Composer Danny Elfman does not return to provide the musical score for this film, citing creative differences with director Sam Raimi over the previous film. Instead, Christopher Young composes the film's score. In December 2006, however, producer Grant Curtis announced that Elfman had begun collaborating with Young on the film's score music. Interestingly, Elfman turned down this film for Charlotte's Web (2006), which is about a spider who uses her talents to do good. (think Elfman regrets that decision?)
*During the celebration scene the band plays an alternate rendition of the "Spider-Man" (1967) TV show theme while Spider-Man ascends to the stage.
*While being in the Venom costume, Topher Grace didn't drink any water during his breaks because he couldn't use the bathroom with his costume on. (haha!)
*The release date for the film was set before Spider-Man 2 (2004) was even released. (crazy...that's 3 years in advance!)
*This film is reportedly the most expensive film ever made in U.S. dollars, with a budget of $250 million. (it even beat King Kong)

Russ Landau's Blog
So composer Russ Landau, basically the king of reality tv scoring, is traveling through China right now "in search of ancient voices" for the upcoming Survivor 15 soundtrack/theme song. Check out his really interesting blog describing the trip at www.landaus-travels.blogspot.com if you're a fan of Survivor or interested in music from China.

Music from "The Hottest State"
Listen to Jesse Harris' "It Will Stay With Us"
Listen to Rocha's "Never See You"
HOT soundtrack
What's hotter than actor, writer, and director Ethan Hawke? The soundtrack to his upcoming movie, The Hottest State. We're talking Norah Jones, Willie Nelson, Emmielou Harris, Rocha and Cat Power just to name a few. Grammy-winning songwriter/singer Jesse Harris composed the score and wrote all the music for the soundtrack. He even appears in the movie and serves as the co-producer along with Hawke. This killer soundtrack has sixteen songs, plus two score passages recorded exclusively for the film. While the movie isn't released until the end of August, you can count on me to be in line on August 7th when this soundtrack is released.
